Guardian: "Piece by piece, month by month, Tony Blair's administration is removing the safeguards that protect all of us from the whims of a government and the intrusions of a powerful state. It is engaged in a ferocious power-grab.

The ID cards bill will allow the authorities unprecedented surveillance of our lives, and the power to curtail our ordinary activities by withdrawing that card. The legislative and regulatory reform bill, now entering its final stages, will let ministers alter laws by order, rather than having to argue their case in parliament. Then this weekend brought another shocking government proposal to increase its own power and weaken the restraints upon it. Lord Falconer made clear that the government intends to drastically curtail the powers of the Lords.
In future peers will have to pass any legislation that the government deems important.

The perverse fact is that we are being asked to place great trust in a government that makes a point of distrusting everyone outside its inner circle."

Tony Blair has no trust in the people because he himself cannot be trusted; he can only govern by ukase. He is a war criminal, a thief and a traitor, so of course he does not trust the democratic institutions that would hamper him in his criminal intent.

Independent: "A man has vowed to go to prison rather than pay taxes which he believes would fund a 'blatantly illegal war' in Iraq.
Robin Brookes, 52, appeared at Swindon County Court for refusing to pay a £580 income tax bill."

Guardian: "An 87-year-old woman with breast cancer is being forced to travel more than 500 miles a week for treatment because of a lack of local services, it emerged yesterday."

Phony Bliar can't be bothered to do something about the 'petty' worries of the commoners, he's too busy with his killing spree abroad.

Forbes: "Saudi Arabia is working secretly on a nuclear program, with help from Pakistani experts, the German magazine Cicero reported in its latest edition, citing Western security sources."

On October 25 Frank Figueroa, then one of Florida's highest-ranking federal law enforcement officers and the former head of a national program formed to target child sex predators - Predator, Department of Homeland Security - was charged with exposure of sexual organs and disorderly conduct.

AZCentral: "On Wednesday, prosecutors prepared to extradite Brian J. Doyle, a senior public information officer in Homeland Security in Washington who faces 23 felony counts of using a computer to seduce a child and transmitting harmful materials to a minor."

This raises doubts about the ability of an agency responsible for safeguarding the country to ensure the security credentials of its own people, let alone the security of the nation.
Or does Bush choose his personnel from a list of potential felons?
