Utah Rural Schools Conference
I'm traveling today to Cedar City for the Utah Rural Schools Conference. This is a great conference. It gives me the opportunity to meet with many educators and technologist from all around the state. Usually, they are very spread out in the vast rural areas of Utah.
I don't know the exact numbers. It something like 90% of the land area of Utah is inhabited by 5% of the population. I'm probably wrong about that, but the idea is correct. Lots of land, not many people. It's a big challenge.
San Juan County is a good example. In size it is bigger than the nine smallest states. In population is makes Evanston Wyoming look positively metropolitan. I believe that there is one stoplight in the entire county. There are more indian ruins than people per square mile. So getting together in one place for a few days to talk and interact is an important activity.
I am looking forward to seeing my friends from rural Utah. It should be fun........
