Jim's Pond - Exploring the Universe of Ideas
"Beware when the great God lets loose a thinker on this planet. Then all things are at risk. It is as when a conflagration has broken out in a great city, and no man knows what is safe, or where it will end." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Political & Intelligent

It's deep analysis like this that keeps me politically unaffiliated.

But, James Michener, a great author, thinker and American once wrote that he listened to a talk show host when he lived in Florida who he almost always disagreed with. This host routinely made Michener mad. When asked by his wife why he listened he said that it was important to know what the other side was thinking. Good call, James.

BTW. Michener was a life-long liberal who served in the Space Program under President Nixon. The difference between Mr. Michener, someone I personally have a huge amount of respect for, and others is that Michener was a thinker who could see two sides to any argument and who respected his adversary.

What we need in our political process is more respect and real debate. We could do without the personal attacks.........
