Stakeholder or Customer

In the Education sector we have a problem. We don't seem to like the term customer. So we call "them" stakeholders. What the hell is a stakeholder? I'm sorry but I don't understand.

I do understand the concept of customer. I'm a consumer and therefore---- a customer. I make decisions based on the criteria of being a customer. It's very cool.

So, an early New Year's resolution is to improve customer service at UEN. First step? Define the customer. I've been giving that some thought recently. Who are the UEN Customers? (Yes, I dare to use that word and to think in this term).

I have a few ideas about what to do next. But not until I figure out the first part. And no, this isn't going to be one of those "every student in Utah is my customer" exercises. The only way this works is to get very specific. I don't think I'm dumb enough to publish my list. We'll just have to see how that goes............
