Jim's Pond - Exploring the Universe of Ideas
"Beware when the great God lets loose a thinker on this planet. Then all things are at risk. It is as when a conflagration has broken out in a great city, and no man knows what is safe, or where it will end." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Whew! Farmington Fire is Under Control

Saturday the "fire" above Farmington burned hot. It was, in the words of those in the know, going through a lot of fuel. That's what they call trees and brush when it's on fire. Fuel.

There's been a lot of fuel in California. I heard some discussion today on the radio. Experts in forest management. Pointing out how so called "environmentalists" who are not forest management experts, block any forest management. That results in creating a lot of "fuel".

Then you get a situation where an area half the size of Rhode Island looks like nuclear winter. Isn't it funny how sometimes we get all emotional, and think we are doing good. We, as humans, interfer in things we don't understand because we want to "preserve" the beauty of nature.

And isn't it funny how non-experts can really mess things up. All in the name of caring. It is sad. Of course, those who lost their homes are more than just a bit sad. Try mad...........
