Bus Reflection 04 1:47:40 PM    comment []; Wed 22 Oct: Grand Rapids MI - What a find this gig in Grand Rapids is! What a beautiful old hall and friendly people! One could almost play solo guitar without amplification here....well, maybe with a minimum of amplification. Dinner at the One Trick Pony, who sponsor the show, turns out to be lovely, too. Our performance is strong, even though there are a lot of reflections bouncing around the hall, which has three story tall back walls. This makes the rhythm sound a little gooey, a little less defined than would be nice. But melodies sound great. Apparently the radio station in town is very unique in that it is staffed by volunteers who are allowed to play any song from the huge station library 1:44:42 PM    comment []; Tue 21 Oct: Cincinnati OH - 20th Century Theater This place opened in 1941 as a Super Deluxe Cinema. All stores in the area are closed until 11am, but the owner of the theater opens up a restaurant he also owns and offers breakfast. Interesting twist: the owner of the theater has an agreement with Clear Channel, who book the shows for him and make the deals. This way he can do what he enjoys doing, which is putting on a nice show without having to deal with the business much. The Clear Channel rep was very nice as well. 1:37:19 PM    comment []; Mon 20 Oct: Harrisburg PA - Whitaker Center Lovely to be back here at the Whitaker Center. I remember the Oak trees by the river from the last time we were here. I have some of their offspring growing in pots outside my house. In a prop room we discover a white bull which appears to made of plastic and is life-sized. Immediately we want to place it behind Ron during the show: Ron plays tablas, which are from India, where the Holy Cows live - ergo white plastic bull.... Unfortunately the white bull gets moved somewhere during the day - did they overhear us? - and we don't get to use it for our show. It might have looked fantastic with our moving lights. 1:27:21 PM    comment [];
