nouveaumatic
In case U were wondering.....

Yes, I created the Barcelona Nights remix on the nouveaumatic album myself. Jon Gagan played the bass. Who is Sepp Maier then? He was a great German goalie in the seventies, in fact he was the goalie for the German soccer team for many years and won the World Cup in 1974. He played for the Bayern München team....Monaco is Italian for Munich...How easily I keep myself amused...

Read this Scientific American piece. Short version; the universe is actually a two-dimensional plane packed with information, and the three-dimensions universe we perceive is nothing but an expression of that information. Matter and energy and life are, in fact, holograms. It leaves something very very interesting open for the future. If the universe is a vast two-dimensional plane of information -- then it can be hacked.

I don't want to try to bend my head around that notion quite yet....the hacker as priest?

Hall of Thirty-Three Bays, 1995, Hiroshi Sugimoto

Hiroshi Sugimoto: I came for the Seascapes, I stayed for the Hall of Thirty-Three Bays. I love this series of nearly identical photos of the Sanjusangendo, a Kyoto shrine.

The new 15" PowerBooks have a new known screen defect, in which big ugly white splotches show up on your display. My new 1GHz 15" has this in spades; Dan Gillmor's has a less severe case. The problem is that I suspect that I'll have to give the box back to Apple for a week to get it fixed, and there's no way in hell I can afford to do that any time soon. [BoingBoing]
That's a bummer. I know two people who are (were?) going to buy a 15" alubook this month.....

List of ways to get to a live operator for various banks, airlines, credit card companies, and support centers.
If you want to reach a live voice at Gateway, hit zero twice, but be prepared to wait on Hold for a little while.

For Hewlett-Packard say "agent" when you're first prompted to speak.

We found no magic bullet to bypass Dell, Apple, or IBM's automated voice menus.

Useful info...

Software giant Microsoft held abortive talks with internet search engine Google over a partnership or merger, a press report claims. [BBC | TECH]
I am glad that didn't happen. Google would be the default search engine on every MS browser and tied into the OS...and together they would rule the world...Google and either MS or Apple would be bad news, I think...imagine all of the info Google could feed back to MS. I remember my dad telling me about news in Europe a year or two ago that MS had their DVD player rigged so it would send back info on the DVDs people watched as soon as the user would go online again. When they were called on it they disabled it and said it was info they were not going to use for anything...sure, but what a delectable database that would have been: worth billions to Hollywood, Im' sure.
