Hand painted oil reproduction of a famous Picasso painting, Girl Before a Mirror. It has been carefully recreated detail-by-detail, color-by-color to near perfection in order to preserve the sentiment and splendor of the original. Why settle for a print when you can add sophistication to your rooms with a beautiful oil painting?
That's funny...this Philips screen would be much cooler than a fake Picasso...

Honda Insight October 28th...my Honda Insight is being built in Japan today. Silver, manual transmission, air-conditioning...it is supposed to arrive in Santa Fe in December. Apparently the demand for this car is less than amazing and Honda is hand-building these cars in a factory that also makes the NSX sports car. Had a dream last night in which I was sorry to switch to the Insight from my TT. Obviously I can't expect the Insight to handle like the TT...but I hope it handles decently. Should be very stiff at least, because of its aluminum body.

We don't own a car, but if we did, we'd surely invest in this: a $300 gadget which can change red traffic lights to green with the press of a button:The traffic light changer, called the MIRT for mobile infrared transmitter, emits a beam with a 1,500-foot range to a receiver installed at the intersection, which changes the light immediately, allowing an intersection to clear before a fire or rescue truck approaches...The devices are normally installed on the fire truck and respond automatically. The MIRT requires the press of a button and plugs into the cigarette lighter. Unlike other devices, like radar jammers and certain laser detectors that emit radio signals, the MIRT and other signal changers emit an infrared beam, so it doesn't run afoul of the Federal Communications Commission, said Chelsea Fallon, a spokeswoman for the agency. Fri 24 Oct: Chicago IL - Park West Last night's show in Milwaukee was quite good, I thought. We know that there are only a few more shows to go and I think everybody is trying to really enjoy them. A rare night in a hotel bed as we decided to stay in Milwaukee and drive to Chicago this morning.
Tonight is the second to last show of this tour. We have been playing at Club West for many, many years. Since 1993 maybe? Ah, in 1993 we did one tour that lasted 13 weeks. A single bus with 12 guys for 13 weeks. We were home so little in those days that many people in Santa Fe thought we had moved to California. At least that was one of the rumors then....

Thu 23 Oct: Milwaukee WI - Potawatomi Casino This is actually a very nice theater and I am looking forward to playing here. Another nice surprise is that we can play the full set here, which is quite unusual for a casino. Very nice.
It's Kevin's birthday today - he is our LD, Lighting Designer...

This is really cool - Cory Doctorow points to Plants in Motion, a website with lots of time-lapse photography of plants growing. Makes you realize it isn't just animals which can move; we just have different timescales from plants. (And they have different timescales from rocks, which also move, which have different timescales from mountains, which move, which have different timescales from tectonic plates, which move, which have different timescales from planets...) [Critical Section] Beautiful stuff!

Human beings and their enormous appetite for fossil fuels, as well as the waste associated with this consumption, are responsible for global warming. Cleaning things up could lead to economic ruin, some believe. But what about the cost of doing nothing? [Wired News]
Another quote from the article: IPCC chairman Rajendra Pachauri said the meaning of "dangerous" was largely a value judgment and up to governments to define. But he also told Reuters:
"Scientifically, one can ask ... whether the extent of sea level rise which has taken place, the damage to coral reefs, changes in precipitation levels and impacts on water availability in different parts of the world are not enough reasons for decision makers to decide what is dangerous."
It seems to me that it would be easier and more efficient for us to get started now, rather than leaving it to our children or our children's children, who might have a hell of a time. After all it is our mess and aren't we supposed to clean up after ourselves?
