David Hoggard's take on local politics and life in general from Greensboro, NC

Tuesday, February 01, 2005

I had the opportunity this morning to attend the 45th Sit-In Anniversary Celebration breakfast at NC A&T University.  Quite a gathering, great speakers with messages well received.

The keynote speaker, Chicago attorney Thomas N. Todd, was well worth the 6:30a start time.  A powerful orator, Todd wowed the crowd but then turned to the three surviving members of the Greensboro four and admonished all in attendance (not verbatim, but close), "We have let you down... You four made the down payment for equality, but we have failed to make the required monthly installments."

Jesse Jackson Sr. and Jr. made an appearance at their alma mater but kept a low profile.
