The N&R's Mike Fuch's emailed me today...

"I think someone was supposed to shoot you an e-mail to let you know, but in case you haven't heard, the folks in the life section have postponed running Jinni's Journal. Not sure when it's supposed to run."

In their defense, I just assumed it was going to run on Monday and should have checked before saying it would.  I could just go ahead and post it here on Monday, I suppose.

We, in the Greensboro blogplanet, adopted Charlottan blogger Anonymoses way back when.  Ever since he attended the Piedmont Blog Conference, Beckwith has been trying to drag his town, kicking and screaming, into something resembling the blog nirvana we have here in the Gate City.  His main thing for the longest time has been to try and get the word 'blog' mentioned, just mentioned, in the Charlotte Observer.

He got his wish.  But our man Beckwith didn't like the Observer reporter's tone, not to mention the writer's typical just-learned-to-spell-blogosphere, journalist-without-a-clue, skepticism.  So Anonymoses invited the Observer's movers and shakers to come see the bathrobe-clad spectacle tomorrow in Chapel Hill.

Then the fun started.

JR and crew, and crew and crew and crew, and crew, and crew, and crew, and pew give them boys down in Charlotte a call, they're thirstin' for some of that tasty Kool-Aid that flows so freely at the N&R.

As for me... I'm going to Chapel Hill, too... I wouldn't miss it for the world.  Especially after the way a bunch of the Triangulars supported our Conference back in August.  I won't be taking the blogtrain, however.  My son Jesse likes all things Florida State and they are playing Wake Forest tomorrow.  Game time is 1:30, so I'll be bugging out right before the beer gets ordered at the Rathskeller.

The next installment of Jinni's Journal will be in the N&R on Monday.  It's not as upbeat as the first two, but a brutally honest account from her perspective. Money, habits, her husband, expectations vs. reality, and our kids all get a little more critical scrutiny in this one...

"... I also expected that my kids would pitch in and do the housework that I couldn't.  At first, they didn't do much.  Now, they're better.  Jesse, our 11-year-old, has filled the dishwasher (next time, sweetie, turn it on!); 15-year-old Jackson has taken out the trash; 13-year-old Josie does the laundry.

One unexpected side effect of my cancer might be more responsible children, though I wouldn’t recommend cancer as a teaching method..."

She put off writing this one for about two weeks longer than the loose schedule we arranged with the N&R.  One day she was stressing about it a little and I told her to just forget about it.  She said, "But what about my readers, they want to know what's going on?"

She always feels better about things once she has put them on paper.  Thanks go out again to the N&R's Maria Johnson for her gentle prodding of Jinni's pen and wise editing of Jinni's words.  Maria has become one Jinni's confidants through all of this which dispels the "nothing is off the record" notion as it applies to interacting with reporters.  The first draft of Monday's column would have curled your hair, the final version just makes waves.
