City Councilman Tom Phillips comments on my observations about his tempered response last night regarding County Commissioner Skip Alston's outlandish racism charges:

"...If I knew he was just going to reduce his slander to the Housing Department I would have never made the comments I did.  Fool me twice, shame on me. "

Jerry McClough thinks Alston owes the black community "an apology for a lack of representation."

The N&R's John Robinson: "Guilford County commissioner Skip Alston has lumped the News & Record in with city of Greensboro workers...."

I don't know who Inkslinger might be, but he sure nailed my sentiments on the apparent final resolution (N&R) of the whole Dr. Krishnaraj/Board of Health affair.

Columnist Kathleen Parker, "I think we can declare without fear of contradiction that rigor mortis is settling over the carcass of the Fourth Estate."

Parker says we are actually witnessing a double funeral.  One for traditional media and the other for the freedom of people to speak freely in casual conversation.

She cites Jarvis' contention that "off the record is dead" and points out the killer may have been bloggers.  I fear she is correct, for the most part.  And that is a damn shame.

I, for one, still respect 'off the record' requests and I even take it one step further by asking people if it would be OK if I use information they give me on my Blog when they tell me something of interest.  To do otherwise would isolate me from being fully involved in the community.  Stifling any conversation, either on-line or off-line would be counter-productive to why I started blogging in the first place.

Never mind.  Call off the dogs.  Commissioner Alston doesn't think the whole City staff is racist after all.

Just a big chunk of it.

Update: Cone to Skip: "Not good enough."  I agree.
