At a press conference today (Wednesday, I'm writing this on a 757 on the way to Orlando and another conference) accompanied by a panoply of vice presidents , Invensys Process Systems unveiled a series of asset performance management solutions--called monitors. These include: instrument, valve, loop, pump, equipment, alarm management, security management, safety integrity and automation platform.
These build on three services announced last year at the ISA Expo.
These build on the ideas of Peter Martin that I discussed Monday, but a fuller implementation of economic reporting that helps operators and other plant personnel operate at optimum economic levels remains to be developed.
Invensys management believes that this higher view of asset management, taking the concept above devices in the plant food chain distinguishes it from its process control competitors.
