This is a lovely photo from the camera phone of Kim in line at Wrigley waiting to get a wristband for Cubs tickets. Alas, we didn't get lucky...

A Letter to My Conservative Friends [posted by Troy] This is a message to the (very) few fiscal conservatives who actually read this blog. For some time now, I've been trying to convince you that the Republican coalition of religious fundamentalists and fiscal conservatives really don't have the same goals at heart. Now, the coalition is starting to come apart. Check out this article, What Would Jesus Cut.

Not our news... [posted by Troy] The news about the death of the family members of Judge Joan Humphrey Lefkow is pretty awful, but I have to say that I am pretty annoyed at the coverage of this. The news outlets are totally pinning this on white supremicist Matt Hale. Now, don't get me wrong. I think Hale is pretty much a bastard, and I am happy he is in jail. But, the headlines are totally implying guilt before there is a trial: ABC News: Supremicist Tie Probed in Judge Kin Death NBC: Hate Groups Eyed in Slaying of U.S. Judge's Kin White nationalists continue focus on judge, family I've heard a few stories like this on TV and radio. The police continue to say that they don't have a connection (besides past threats), but they continue to lead the media with hints. The media then play this up to catch our attention and make the news. Seriously, I hope they find out who did this, and if it was Hale's followers, then the authorities should act accordingly. The thing is that no matter what, the public will link Hale with this. This is the sort of news making that happens all the time. Maybe this is a sign of our times? Maybe it takes us being more awake when we see headlines?
