New Book [found on Gapersblock.com] There is a new Ray Bradbury biography being released. Actually, this is the first. I met Bradbudy at Blackhawk College while I was attending Augustana. I told him that I didn't have much time to write, since I was a student. He told me to tell my teachers to go to hell.

Pope [posted by Troy] Well, the Pope has been put to rest. As a protestant, I have conflicting feelings about John Paul II. He did many good things, but generally, I haven't agreed with much of the policies for the Catholic Church. CNN, NBC, FOX, CBS, ABC, etc have been having a pope love fest, and I am a bit sorry that we are not having honest discussions about the impact of the policies of the Catholic Church on the third world. Naturally, this should be done in a respectful way to honor this pope as he is put to rest, but there is much to discuss. This Slate article is one of the few places where some of the negative issues surrounding the Catholic Church has been discussed.

Credit where credit is due [posted by Troy] I've been meaning to give credit to our secret partner in this blog. Javier is the guy who paid for the name "swansonblog.com" and set us up. I've been meaning to send out a thanks to him. I also owe him a drink for his work.
