Another Pope [posted by Troy]
After all of tht TV hype over this Pope thing, I really have one response: BORING, BORING, BORING, BORING!! After all the hype, blowing all that smoke, all of the Wolf Blitzer interviews, we get some old German, dogmatic, white guy? This is why Martin Luther left in the first place! BORING! Not an African or South American? And the Catholics wonder why their church is dying in North American and Europe? I mean, even Howard Dean knew how to go out with a bang. Come on! The new Pope should just be John Paul III. Or, maybe, we should go back to the 1800s, since that is where the Catholic church is heading.Check out this Slate article about the new pope.

Plácido Domingo [posted by Troy]
Some how I missed this NY Times article (free login required) that compares being a Cubs fan to Wagner's Opera "Die Walküre". It pretty means that we sit for about three days straight in utter tragedy watching our hopes waste away. Wagner knew all about being a Cubs fan...just minus the Old Style.
