For our world Travelers [posted by Troy]
This is for the world travelers out there. Be sure you don't bring guns on planes. Not only will you get in trouble from security, but the possibility of being sucked out of a plane due to a loss of cabin pressure is very real. This Slate article discusses the many problems of the loss of pressure. If you are afraid of flying, you may not want to read this.

White Smoke [posted by Troy]
Today is Stoner's Day as reported on NPR. If you've been in Men's room walls in colleges, you will see 4:20 on the wall. It's a time, a day, an excuse. It makes no sense, which is probably the point. Anyway, the NPR story talks about the time.

Projected Future of Web [posted by Troy]
A link about the future of the Web came across my inbox at work today. It really caught my eye. This is the link to EPIC. It is a short video about a possible future of the Web in 2014. (By the way, the direct link the video itself is here.) Anyway, like all future prodictions, I think it exaggerates the possibilities of the future, but this video does a good job of drawing on current research and predictions. I think it hits some points that worth talking about, like the need of an independant press. Some may question whether we have that now, but the authors of this ask us to think about how the press, internet, and search engines are merging together. It's worth pondering.
