A Wet Father's Day It's raining here quite heavily...not good, since Jamie and Joe are entered in a father and son golf tournament this afternoon (Jamie's father's day gift to Joe) and Jamie is supposed to go golfing with three of his friends before that. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will let up. We're also supposed to be going to a barbeque this evening to celebrate the birthdays of two friends of ours, so wet weather is not welcome today.
Iris is standing beside me as I write this, making a chocolate cheese cake for her dad. I can see she's getting frustrated with the food processor....one of my downfalls is that I haven't been very good about teaching my kids how to cook.
I talked to my dad this morning - I hate to call him because he's so hard of hearing; phone conversations are almost impossible. We managed to get a couple of minutes in before it became obvious it was time to say good bye. Since he doesn't have a computer, I've taken to writing him letters. I so rarely write a real letter to anyone else that it feels quite foreign to me. A lost art form I guess. I remember writing and receiving volumes to/from some of my friends after university - I like the immediacy of email, but I do miss getting those fat letters in the mail.
