According to her, I was tagged to respond to a meme concerning my six favorite songs. I would have done this sooner, but I glanced over her post in my aggregator because I do not get full-text feeds.  Fix that!

According to the meme, I am also supposed to select six other people to do the same.  Given my aversion to chain letters in any form, I will not be picking six other people.  Yeah, I suck.  Screw you.

I present to you, my six favorite songs.  If you don't like any of them, tough.
  1. Love for Sale, Miles Davis - '58 Sessions
  2. One for My Baby (And One More for the Road), Frank Sinatra - Classic Sinatra
  3. Ring of Fire, Johnny Cash - At San Quentin (The Complete 1969 Concert)
  4. Brand New Day, Sting - ...All This Time (this version has a great sound)
  5. Signe, Eric Clapton - Unplugged (Guitar Mastery by God himself)
  6. I Left My Heart in San Francisco, Tony Bennett - Unplugged

I had a fun but busy weekend.  I was out of work for the most part last week, only working on Thursday.  You could say my weekend started early, though, since I had Friday off for my interview.

Speaking of the interview, I thought it went quite well.  Admittedly, I am used to the interviews that I have had in the past here at College Park--normally, large search committee affairs.  The interview at the School of Pharmacy only had two gentlemen leading the Inquisition.  I had a good feeling leaving, as I was given an impromptu tour of their facility, and there were no stunned silences when I made my current salary known.

It is an interesting position.  If I were to be offered it, I would be leaving a position with the central IT unit at College Park for a similar job.  The major difference is that everything is done by this unit within the school.  In my current job, I pretty much am a systems administrator--I deal with servers, the problems they cause, and other things that deal with them.  I rarely deal with networking concerns, as we have a Networking and Telecom Services group that does that.  With the position in Baltimore, I would be dealing with switches and routers.  Another major difference about the position is in dealing with support requests.  I deal with support requests from time to time now, but for the most part I deal with them at the back-end only.  If I get the new job, I would be doing a lot more desktop support.  I am not exactly sure how I feel about it.  One one level, it is good to be thrown back into that environment.  However, I did a lot of that when I first started working in IT, so I do not know how exactly much I want to do that on a daily basis again.

I look forward to finding out what happens next.  There are certainly some interesting aspects to this position.  I would do a lot more "stuff," making me a bit more well-rounded than I have become the last few years.  The Pharmacy School is a Windows shop, which is quite different from what I am accustomed.

On Saturday, some friends of mine had their wedding at the Maryland Historical Society.  Admittedly, the location was a great choice.  The wedding was a great time, and there was a small post-reception gathering at Copra.  At some point, I would like to go back and actually have dinner there.  The establishment has won major points with me for making a Maker's Mark Manhattan just the way I like it.

On Sunday, there was a conscious effort by the Better Half and I to take it easy, given our fun the night before.  Our laziness meant we were not going to make the post-wedding brunch for the day, but that was fine by me.  Instead, we grabbed some brunch and then grabbed a movie.  The rest of the day was a study in laziness.
