On my way home from the gym last night, I walked by the Lucky's Superette at Fort Avenue and Covington Streets.  It was surprisingly dark, which is odd for a place that is open until 10:00 PM.  A woman who had wanted to grab something looked at the door then continued on her way.  I stopped to have a look, and I noticed a steel bar that was padlocked.  A small sign was written on the door yesterday, simply stating "We'll miss you after 46 years of business."

I then came across this article in today's Sun.  The competition from the "big box" retailers was too much, and Lucky's has cashed in its chips.  The drumbeat of progress, I suppose.

For the next party that has a keg, I know what I am bringing to the party: the Ubertap!  Behold its 3-tap glory:

I dare say it would even make "Frank the Tank" proud.

A friend who instant messaged me this evening made an incredibly poignant remark to me this evening:

"[I]t's not the place that makes the friendships, the relationships, the memories, or the enjoyment of life... it's the people that occupy that space for one moment in eternity that metamorphosize nothingness into something wonderful."

I could not have said it any better myself.
