I received the following email as a result of my being a Maker's Mark Ambassador:

Dear Ambassadors,

Hey Hon! Join your friends and fellow Ambassadors for a little happy hour fun at Max's on Broadway! On Thursday, November 3rd we'll be hanging out at this Fell's Point landmark from 6:00 - 8:00pm.

Bring your favorite drinking buddies for an evening of great cocktail specials, giveaways, food and fun!
If you would like to join us, please reply to this email with the words "Charm City" in the subject line - we can't wait to see you there!

Max's on Broadway
735 S. Broadway
Baltimore, MD 21231
410-675-6297

Cheers!
Emily

It just so happens that same day is my birthday, and I always enjoy Maker's Mark.  Even better, what better way to celebrate my birthday than to enjoy some Maker's Manhattans at Max's.

If anyone cares to join me, let me know.  The email said I can bring friends, and I would like to respond tomorrow.

I have finally configured a wireless card for my SuSE 9.3 laptop, and it works.  Nothing like using ndiswrapper to use the Windows drivers in Linux.

Need to test this elsewhere, but it works at the office so far.  Now to get some wireless sniffing applications for Linux and take a look at our wireless performance here in the office.

More super-nerdiness later.

The Chicago White Sox are the winners of the 2005 World Series, ending an eighty-eight year championship drought.  Congratulations to yet another Sox team winning the World Series.  Given that two of the three longest World Series droughts have ended, I assume that next year will be the year that the Cubs end their bout of futility.

The Astros were overmatched.  The White Sox pitched really well, and continued their run of lucky officiating calls in the postseason.  Even if those calls went the Astros' way, though, their lack of offense was ultimately their undoing.

Regardless, I still detest Ozzie Guillen.  My only hope is that he keeps up his end of the bargain and resigns after winning the World Series in his first managerial season.
