Another sunny day in the city of Amsterdam. had a nice meeting with GT about life, love, weblogs :) Gerard is the ceo of the Netherland's youngest and fastest growing broadcast organization.
What I like most about him is that he knows how to push back about things he is uncertan about or when he has a different opinion. Our conversations consist of long listening as well. Hard to do sometimes when you have two people in a room together who are passionate about what they do!
The best part of our chats, particularly the weblog part, is that we are actually discussing a public service. BNN is a publicly funded broadcast organization, a bit too complicated to explain the Dutch media system, but in a nutshell, everything BNN does on tv, radio, print, film and online is funded from taxpayers money. It's not about making money. It's about making quality that the public wants and will benefit from. GT's own blog shows some of the transparency he wants to bring to the world of pubcasting.
The big question in pubcasting land here is what 'new media's role is supposed to play, some even question funding public new media projects at all.
Of coruse my vision is: All Your Blog Belong To Us :-)
I look forward to our next chat already.......
