Mammals vs. Dinosaurs, round 2
Being a Radio user could be all about re-living that past life as a small mammal scampering over the toes of the bigger beasts that stomp(ed) the earth. Amy Wohl is alleged to have recently claimed that she smoked a certain BigPub to the scoop, and if you're a Radio blogger, you too can do this. Easily. For instance, today I noticed a newish site on the top-100 Radio rankings site and posted a link to Ursula's holiday homes blog at 5:04:22 PM, my time zone. Then sometime between then and 9:04: PM my time zone DaveW had posted a link (at least that's when it showed on my news aggregator page) to the same site. *Do note: I'm not claiming DaveW poached a link from me and didn't blink any attribution.* What I am saying is that Radio provides enough information-gathering and -sharing tools that almost anyone can quickly blog new and interesting links about as fast as they become available. You can bump shoulders with those you may have once considered the Bigs yourself. Ain't this Internet thingamawhatsis fascinating? Oh, and yes, DaveW, to me, your blog is a BigPub. ;-) 11:30:29 PM [] blah blah blah'd on this
OS X Backup update: CCC works as advertised.
I decided to go with Mike's CCC application. Very easy to use. So now I have a solid backup of my OS X disk, and soon I'll have to see if it actually boots. UPDATE: The clone booted just fine. Had a brief scare, as the first attempt didn't want to boot up (broken folder icon), but I then booted into OS9, set the startup disk from there, and then it just worked. Outstanding. Now I have to find a good solution for incremental backups, to grab just the changed files in a few directories... 5:13:38 PM [] blah blah blah'd on this
Radio blogs are popping up in all kinds of wierd ways... There are blogs from the usual suspects, of course, and blogs for class assignments, but also we're seeing them from court clerks for official court information, and now this one, Ursula Lotze's Ferienhäuser in Frankreich. If you have a holiday home in France, and want to do some temporary house swapping, this is for you. Here's the Google translation for Ursula's Radio blog from German to English, for the non-polygots like myself. Hmm, the second one in the Côte d'Azur looks nice, plus it'd be close to SHE's family in the Trier area... 5:04:22 PM [] blah blah blah'd on this
