I've been using OpenOffice once in a while and it works pretty well. It's not as pretty as Microsoft Office... but it's free and it works with all of the Microsoft Office documents. So, Word documents and Excel spreadsheets open and work just fine in OpenOffice. Kinda slick. This new release of OpenOffice and the collaboration tools are worthwhile free software.

Here's an amazing amount of money that the goverment is in debt for: $450 billion THIS fiscal year. This isn't some long term projected possibility - but a real honest to goodness debt that is really coming soon. Wow - that is a LOT of money. And we've gone from possible surplus to big debt amazingly quickly.

Toute Sweet - one of our Birman cats is coming home tonight. She will probably have a special diet and will need to have her teeth cleaned. But, she's coming home. The antibiotics seemed to have done their work.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for taking down the Winer Watcher web page.
I'm sure lots of folks had yelled and screamed. And I'll bet that you're surprised by how many e-mails you've received. I like reading scripting news. I edit posts on my weblog all of the time - usually because my perspective has changed.
Doc Searls says that weblogs are conversations. It just happens to be that these conversations persist. If speech persisted the same way, I'd want the ability to go back and change it too. Dave Winer's posts change throughout the day - and I know I miss lots. But the idea of building a complete log of all changes is pretty horrible. We can do many things with technology, but should we just because we can?
Thanks again for taking down the Winer Watcher web page.
