Friday, July 25, 2003I've decided it was time for a new toy and so I've ordered a Hauppauge WinTV PVR-350 (990) TV/Video/Radio Input to be added to our linux fileserver at home. I'm planning on using MythTV on it. MythTV is a linux-based personal video recorder - kind of like a ReplayTV or a Tivo but free. If you have spiffy fast hardware, then you can get a cheap TV card, since I don't have spiffy fast hardware for my linux system (it's a dual processor Pentium II 350). I broke down and ordered the Hauppauge WinTV PVR-350.
I've been wanting to get a new replaytv with more disk space, but they just recently settled the lawsuits against them by removing two key features: automatic commercial skipping and the ability to share recorded programs with other replaytv's.
I'm really not sure how this project will work out. More news about this project as I make progress. Should be really cool if I can get it to work :-)

Time for some pictures...
This is a picture of Toute Sweet from a few months ago. We're praying that she'll get healthy and look like this again soon.
O'Fleur is a daughter of Parano (he was a great cat that we had a few years ago). O'Fleur's daughter is: Rapunzel. I caught the rest of the cat pictures while they were napping...
Rapunzel is O'Fleur's daughter and she has a son named: Teddy
Teddy is a cute and sometimes he seems to turn off his brain. You'll find Ted just sitting in the middle of the dogs, while they bark at him and Ted will have this empty headed look. Ted is a great lap cat.
Caroline is our first dog. She likes to hug.
Sam is our second dog - and he's just a sweetheart.
Elijah is our third dog. We figured it was time for a prophet.

Last night Toute decided that getting everyone up at 2am was a good idea. She must be feeling a little better. The way she got everyone up was to pound on the bedroom door (Toute has her own room :-) for about five minutes. Toute is an active cat normally and she is used to knocking on doors. This sounded like her normal door knocking. I had to go pet her for a while and then she settled down for the rest of the night.
