Our Pastor is in the U.S. Army in Iraq. They recently dedicated a new Chapel. It's called the Freedom Chapel. This used to be one of the nastiest buildings, in fact it was a prison for Iraqi soldiers. Now it's all about setting people free spiritually.
Our Church has just started a project that we could use help with. The idea is to send decorations and letters to the Freedom Chapel for Thanksgiving. If you would like to help out, please write a letter for one of our friends there and contact me - I'll be glad to provide some way to get them there. Thanks!

Each little piece of useless chatter is relatively innocent, and only robs us of a few seconds. The cumulative effect, however, is much worse: we assume that most communication is equally useless and tune it out, thus missing important information that's sometimes embedded in the mess.

Sometimes I think that there is a lot of software that folks just don't know anything about, so, I'll post a pointer once in a while. Intellihance is one of the more interesting pieces of software that I use a lot.
There are a few programs that I'd pay for again and again - Intellihance Pro is one of the very few.
I've been using Intellihance for years - it works and works really well. This is a plugin for Photoshop. If you can get past the price of entry (photoshop + intellihance), then this is a great tool for cleaning up pictures. The best description of this filter is that it removes a layer of crud from your pictures. Try it if you can - your digital pictures will really like it.

Toute is getting better a little at a time. She's starting to eat a little on her own and she's been more active - starting to jump up on the ironing board again and sleeping in the cat tree in the dining room again. Good progress.
A couple of friends of ours have just made an offer on a Bed & Breakfast - more details once the financial side gets all straightened out. These are the friends who took a five year plan and have taken it to a two month plan. We're praying for their continued success in this transition.
MythTV update - I got the ivtv drivers to actually capture some video! (no sound, but I got a picture!) And the setup program for mythtv starts - which means that the software is nearly all there, the database works and most of it is compiled and nearly ready. I need to get the remote to work and capture some video with sound yet... but it's getting there.
The trick for the database access with mythtv turned out to be that you need to install qt-MySQL and the packages required for it. These are available on the third RedHat 9 CD and installed basically with no trouble. This fixes the 'Can't open database, driver not loaded' errors I was getting from the MythTV setup program.
