MythTV progress...
I broke down and bought a computer which will become the mythtv system. This is an e-machines system that came with an Athlon processor (2.6Ghz, 512Mb memory, 120Gb disk, DVD reader, DVD writer).

I installed RedHat 9, updated the kernel to rev 2.4.21 (with video4linux patches), added a video card (GeForce 4 440MX with s-video out) and a soundcard (soundblaster audigy) and moved the Hauppauge PVR-350 to the new system. The basic system is mostly setup - not quite all of it yet. I've even dragged the local cable across the house to it and a network connection.

So far, I've got the ALSA sound drivers (http://www.alsa-project.org/) to work and the PVR card can be used to create simple mpg's with sound (big difference from the last test - http://ivtv.sf.net/ ) and the remote control even works with LIRC just peachy (http://www.lirc.org/).

I'm working my way through the perl modules required... more on this as it moves along.
