Pervasive Computing - Where's the Off Switch?. [osOpinion]

Boy is this true, I'm already really annoyed with the level of penetration of computing. While I definitely want to be able to have access to computing everywhere, there are just times when you want to through the whole thing in the trash.

My girlfriend in particular already has a really bad habit of reading AND writing email on her RIM while driving. There is simply nothing that urgent that you have to endanger your life and the lives of those around you to read a stupid email. People think cell phones in cars are bad? Just wait until mobile computing becomes pervasive.

Microsoft Admits XP Media Player Spies on Users. [osOpinion]

Is it too much to ask to just have a computer that you can use without having to worry about whether or not it's going to spy on you? And this company wants us to trust them with all of our personal information via .Net My Services? Yeah, where do I sign.

Putting SOAP on Hold

I've decided I'm going to put my Objective C SOAP implementation on hold for a while. I want to focus on improving Xindice as there are a lot of people using it and we still have a lot of work to do there. I do have the simple XML framework that I was using mostly done and at some point I'll package it and release it. I was hoping to do that this week, just never got around to it.

Worst XML Tool

And the award for Worst XML Tool according to Google goes to Dave Winer. Not actually a tool, but can't have everything.

In yet another worthless XML-DEV thread Eric van der Vlist pointed out that Google's result for Worse XML Tool brings up sponsored links for XMLSpy and Tamino. When I ran it, it brought up Tamino and XMetal. I get the same for "worst xml tool". Worse is better, maybe, maybe not, but Tamino seems to take the cake.

Another YAB Update

Well, just after I posted about the last YAB Xindice browser update, Dawid Weiss announced another one. This time he's added some administration functionality to create and delete collections.
