Photoshop for Mac OS X

Adobe unveils Photoshop 7.0 for Mac OS X [MacCentral]

I don't use Photoshop, but this is easily the most anticipated app for OS X and represents a huge milestone in the Mac OS X migration. OS X adoption among old time Mac users should skyrocket once this thing is out.

Here's a couple additional stories.

New Xindice Committers

Last week we voted to add two new committers to the Xindice project, James Bates and Kurt Ward. James has been looking at Unicode encoding issues and Kurt is working on full XML-RPC integration. Welcome guys!

Xindice XML-RPC

Kurt Ward has posted version 0.6 of the Xindice XML-RPC interface. This release brings compatibility with the current Xindice release, converts to using the Apache XML-RPC library and fills out the interface with administration functionality.

eWeek on XQuery Updates

eWeek has another very interesting article on the XQuery update debate. XML:DB XUpdate is central to the story so that's very interesting to see.

Xindice Review

Ariel Partners has posted a short review of Xindice. It has a few detail inaccuracies and is based on beta 4, but not too bad.

XMLBlaster Persistence Layer

In the somewhat old news deptartment, XMLBlaster has included a Xindice based persistence layer in their message oriented middleware. This was actually released in January, but I just discovered the announcement. There's a README file discussing the state of the integration.

eWeek XML Database Doubts

This story is a little old, but I hadn't seen it before. It's short but, it's nice to see the lack of hype. XML Database Doubts

Chimera is fast

Wow, Chimera is blazing at rendering speed. Much faster then any other OS X browser I've seen. Even on some really difficult sites like IGN it's really quick. It's missing a ton of GUI features, but that should be the easy part compared to the Mozilla rendering engine. It's good to see the Mozilla project is finally paying off.

New Chimera Release

Version 0.12 of Chimera has been posted. This is a very promising looking Cocoa version of Mozilla. It's moving along pretty quickly, but does have a long way to go to be really usable. Still a really promising project, and already more elegant then any other version of Mozilla. This version really improved scrolling speed, and added working forms. If you don't mind being on the bleeding edge it's definitely worth checking out.
