Ariel Partners Xindice Review Updated
Ariel Partners has updated their review of Xindice to correct the minor technical inaccuracies it had previously. They also added some additional issues to their list. They're valid issues and will show up on many checklists, our goal is to get those all crossed off as soon as possible.

YAB Updated
To fuel the fire in the heated browser wars, Dawid Weiss has posted a new update to YAB. Looks to be one major enhancement this time around.
He says:
- You can now update the documents in Xindice directly from a plug-in.
In other words: browse to a document, click on it, see it in the
JEdit:XML renderer pane (distributed with YAB), _type_ in it, update,
modify - do whatever you feel like, using a syntax-highlighted
editor, click on 'save back to xindice'. There you go. You can also
switch to HTML view after that, to see the effect (assuming you're
writing a web page of course ;)*.

Xindice Website
Today I finally put the Apache website for Xindice online. This site is located at http://xml.apache.org/xindice and this is now the official URL for the project. If you have any links that point to the old site on http://www.dbxml.org you should update them to reflect the new location.

Applescript Studio Examples
Apple posted two sample AppleScript Studio applications with source code. ImageEdit 1.0 manipulates images; iPhoto Tour 1.0 is a “‘talking head’ interactive instructor application.” [mac.scripting.com]
Applescript Studio comes with quite a few examples out of the box, but it's so poorly documented overall that more are definitely necessary. In reality I find it much easier to just write Cocoa programs in Objective C or Java, rather then trying to guess how things are supposed to work in Applescript. Of course if you need to glue apps together Applescript is the only way to go. Overall the Cocoa suite is extremely powerful.

Coursey on the Mac
Coursey offers 'Mac voyeurs' some answers [MacCentral]
Seems he's becoming more of a Mac lover everyday. Good to see his experiment is working out in the Macs favor. Wonder if he's going to stick with it once his 30 days are up?

Mac OS X Java Update
Apple has just made available an update for Java on Mac OS X. It is available through software update and is version 1.3.1 update 1.
They also announced that a preview release 1.4 will be available at WWDC in May. This is the first official word I've heard about a 1.4 release for Mac OS X.

Oops
The other day I posted about the search term "worst XML tool" and how Dave Winer got the first result on Google. Maybe that was a mistake, now I get the first result. Heh, heh, oh well.
