Merck axes Andersen
Merck axed Andersen as its auditor, dealing the firm a severe blow in its efforts to survive the Enron scandal.
The US pharmaceuticals giant, Andersen's biggest audit client by sales, said PwC, another "Big Five" firm, would audit its books this year, subject to a shareholder vote. [Financial Times]
...the price of stupidity. The cost of dipping in both troughs. Andersen can spin the 'rogue auditor' story all it want, but it isn't going to fly. In College sports it wouldbe call "Loss Of Institutional Control." See ya later...mj

More music madness...
...music industry is still pissing me off this morning. I was checking my Referers and found that Pieter had bloged me. Tons of stuff regarding the industry and what is going on. Yea, viewership for the Grammys was down, record sales are down. What does it all mean...who knows for sure. Down economy, and people pissed about all the years of lies. The reality is that people want access, and they want selection...you can bet that now that they've had it...they'll not give it up...mj
