AOL mail: OK for others, not itself
Company's attempt to use own software brings headaches
America Online is the world's most successful Internet service provider -- except, apparently, in its own house.
In a humbling reversal, AOL Time Warner Inc. is retreating from a top-level directive that required the divisions of the old Time Warner to convert to an e-mail system based on AOL software and run by America Online[base ']s giant public server computers in Virginia. [MSNBC]

Google Restores Church Links
Google restored a website critical of the Church of Scientology on its search engine Thursday while free-speech advocates slammed the company for removing the site in the first place.
Google said the company had only removed certain pages from the site because of a copyright dispute...
...Robin Gross, staff attorney for the San Francisco-based Electronic Frontier Foundation, said the Church of Scientology was trying to use copyright law to stifle criticism....[Wired]
YES!!!! We won this round. Censorship is an evil that must always be fought off. This abuse af the DMCA is only onw of many examples of why this act must be repealed. It is an example of what happens when laws are abused for selfish interest. With the triple threat of the DMCA, UCITA, and the SSSCA, we face a future where companies and organizations can abuse our freedoms, ignore our rights, deny us 'Fair Use', and stifle views they do not agree with...mj
