This hacker's got the gummy touch
A Japanese researcher finds that 80 percent of fingerprint detectors can be fooled by a fake finger made of gelatin. Will "Jello" be the new hacking tool? [CNET News.com]

This isn't news, except perhaps for those outside the Biometrics Community. Fingerprint technology has been in search of a liveness test to get around this issue. Go an watch the movie "6th Day" and you will see another (less apealling) way to defeat this technology.

For low risk security it's a reasonable method. It's worthless for high security, except as a backup method. Liveness test should solve this issue and put the hacker race to a new level...mj
