Hollywood Wants to Plug the "Analog Hole"
The people who tried to take away your VCR are at it again. Hollywood has always dreamed of a "well-mannered marketplace" where the only technologies that you can buy are those that do not disrupt its business. Acting through legislators who dance to Hollywood's tune, the movie studios are racing to lock away the flexible, general-purpose technology that has given us a century of unparalleled prosperity and innovation. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!! These people want complete control, and they want it under their terms and conditions. They want to decide how you will use technology. They hate technology and will try to stifle anything they view as a threat. They tried to kill the VCR (now a huge part of their revenue stream), the killed Digital Tape technology (remember DAT?). They want veto rights on any future technology. It's like putting the Medieval Catholic Church in charge of progress.
If you think this is about 'Artist Rights' you are wrong. What we need is a system that allows artists to make money directly for their efforts. This system is only meant to support superstars and the cadres of lawyers and accountants who are busy lining the pockets of corporate fatcats and sycophants.
Wake up and smell the coffee. When this is done you may never again have the freedoms they so hate. The freedom to record what you want for your own personal use.
