Doors Open Denver
DenverGov: "Residents and visitors are invited to explore Denver from the inside out, with access to more than 80 of Denver's prominent architectural sites, including office buildings, places of worship, historical sites, mansions, cultural and educational facilities, sports venues, transportation hubs and more."
Don't miss the cool design your own tour application.
Here's the original announcement. Coyote Gulch ran into some of the volunteers at the Webb building the other day including one old North Denver friend. I think it will be a good show.
I'm always happy to see DenverGov put up video in enough formats to include all desktops. Thank you

Denver May 2005 Election
From email from the Aaron Harber Show: "The controversial proposal for a new $378 million Denver Justice Center is the focus of a debate on KBDI-TV Channel 12's 'The Aaron Harber Show' this Friday, April 8th, at 9:00 pm, and this Sunday, April 10th, at 2:00 pm. The guests have an emotionally-charged discussion of the pros and cons behind this proposal and what it means to Denver taxpayers. Is the proposal a long-awaited necessity or a $600 million (principal and interest) boondoggle?"

2008 Presidential Election
The Daily Kos reports, "Ah, you know you've got it going on when the WSJ editorial page starts paying attention to you." The story is about Governor Brian Schweitzer of Montana. He is being touted for the Democratic nomination for president.
Coyote Gulch thinks that a westerner would be a good choice for president. Healthy distrust of government and the ability to chart a course in boom and bust are qualities that are well-developed here.
The Hill: "A prominent Democratic strategist has announced his campaign to create an early eight-state Western primary that would force Democratic presidential candidates to campaign in predominantly red states during the 2008 primary season. Michael Stratton, who served in the Clinton and Carter administrations and was recently named to the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) Presidential Nomination and Scheduling Commission, has assembled a coalition of Western Democrats to petition the DNC on behalf of Western states, which, he argues, have been neglected during recent primary campaigns." Neglected or ignored?
Thanks to the Western Democrat for the link.

Colorado Water
Here's an editorial from the Denver Post dealing with the difficult days that lie ahead for management of the Colorado River basin [April 8, 2005, "Saving Colorado River habitat"]. From the editorial, "Last week, the U.S. Department of Interior and California, Arizona and Nevada signed a landmark agreement. The pact envisions the three states and federal government investing $626 million over 50 years to restore wildlife habitat. The key to making the deal work is sustained funding. Given the long time frame, annual appropriations should be modest enough to allow for continued congressional support."
Here's an article from the Cortez Journal about moving the radioactive waste near the Colorado River at Moab. From the article, "About 12 million tons of waste sit in a floodplain, 750 feet from the banks of the Colorado, which provides drinking water to an estimated 25 million people in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix and other cities throughout the Southwest. The department said in a prepared statement that its final environmental impact statement for the site several miles northwest of Moab would recommend moving the tailings to an alternate site about 30 miles north in Crescent Junction."

Weblogs
Congratulations to the Colorado Pols for being featured by the Denver Post today [April 8, 2005, "Mystery bloggers cast political net on state"]. From the article, "Colorado political gossip has hit the Web in a controversial new blog that insiders rely on for daily fixes of anonymously reported scuttlebutt. Located at http://coloradopoliticalnews.blogs.com, Colorado Pols was launched in January by three self-described 'political nerds' who refuse to reveal their identities."
The Colorado Pols link to Coyote Gulch is much appreciated. Thanks, I appreciate the flow.
