2003 Denver Election for Auditor

Susan Barnes-Geldt has endorsed Ed Thomas for Auditor surprising many, according to the Rocky Mountain News. In addition, the Rocky says, "Thomas has picked up the endorsements of the rest of the council: Ramona Martinez, Ted Hackworth, Cathy Reynolds, Charlie Brown, Kathleen MacKenzie and Joyce Foster."

2003 Denver City Council Election - District 9

The Rocky Mountain News has an article about yard signs being seen in a van that is owned by NEWSED a non-profit that Veronica Barela works with. From the article, "Barela's campaign manager, Stephanie Grilli, said the candidate has been clear that if any NEWSED property is used in any way, the organization has to be paid."

2003 Denver Mayoral Election

John Hickenlooper is trying to attract voters in Don Mares' strongholds according to the Rocky Mountain News. Both candidates want support from voters that cast their ballot for Penfield Tate. Tate won big in Northeast Denver.

Ex-Bronco Reggie Rivers weighs in on the mayoral race in an opinion piece from the Denver Post.

The Rocky Mountain News has a story saying that Don Mares once held a personal services contract with the city. They are trying to point out a bit of hypocrisy on his part. Mares has attacked such contracts during the mayoral forumss leading up to the election. They list some of the details here. The Post jumps into the fray with a story on Mares' office and a no-bid contract to hire temps in 2000 to work on ASPEN.
