2003 Denver Municipal Runoff Election - Events for 5/12-5/18

Event information is lacking on the DenverGov website and on the League of Women Voters website. I haven't received new e-mail from any of the campaigns regarding events. I suggest you call each campaign about events. DenverGov has links to every candidate website here.

Don Mares has updated events and mayoral forums on his website here.

John Hickenlooper's campaign has not updated their website. Website information is lacking on Dennis Gallagher's and Ed Thomas' website also.

Update: John Hickenlooper's website has updated. I knew they'd pay attention to Coyote Gulch after having received a Gulchie.

2003 Denver Runoff Election for Auditor

Dennis Gallagher and Ed Thomas faced off in a forum yesterday in Northeast Denver according to the Denver Post. Technical difficulties caused the debate be postponed. The mayoral candidates did not get a chance to meet and greet.

2003 Denver Mayoral Runoff Election

Good news for the Mares campaign. Mares needs to capture a lot of the voter that supported Penfield Tate, Ari Zavaras and Sue Casey. The Rocky Mountain News is saying that several prominent communitiy leaders in Northeast Denver plan to back him in the runoff.

Here's an opinion piece from the Rocky Mountain News explaining the use of outside attorneys in the Winter Park lawsuit recently dropped by the city Auditor Don Mares. From the article, "The News' analysis should begin by questioning why the WPRA purchased real estate from one of its own trustees and why the city attorney's office advised WPRA trustees to conceal their copies of WPRA board minutes and records."

Short article on Don Mares and his plan to run in every neighborhood between now and the runoff election from the Rocky Mountain News.

Fundraising with four weeks to go is the subject of this article from the Denver Post. From the article, "The two survivors' new streams of wealth for the runoff will likely have a lot to do with where they already got money and where their opponents collected cash."

Ken Hamblin weighs in on the mayoral runoff from the Denver Post. Here's an editorial from the Post endorsing John Hickenlooper for the runoff. I can't find the online version of the Rocky editorial on the same subject. It appeared in yesterday's print version.

On Friday the Denver Election Commission found nearly 1,800 ballots that were not yet counted according to the Rocky Mountain News. A quick count of the ballots showed no effect on any of the races in the city. The Rocky has more details.
