A New West Wing - Something Good About TV

I was just checking to make sure it's on/new tonight before ascending to catch it on the pink-screen. Confirmed by The West Wing Unofficial Community Guide. Name sounds strange for some reason. No time to think. They preview...

"ABBEY SEEKS TO SINK ALTERED BILL AND TOBY HELPS WHISTLE-BLOWER Abbey (Stockard Channing) is upset when an anti-abortion rider is attached to a foreign aid bill and asks Amy (Mary-Louise Parker) to work behind the scenes to torpedo the President's (Martin Sheen) proposal while Toby (Richard Schiff) gets in a legal bind when an ex-classmate (guest star Jeff Perry) turns whistle-blower on a lawbreaking chemical company. Meanwhile, the Daughters of the American Revolution wants to disown Abbey when they learn that her distant relative was more pirate than patriot."

I watch...bye...

Will AOL Voice Mail Lead To TNJT Call In Listener Response?

Lots of news on AOL's voice-mail announcement today. Looks like you will get .WAV files (easily converted to MP3) in emails when someone leaves you a vmail. Here's how USA Today spelled it out...

"AOL Voicemail will cost $5.95 a month, but subscribers can expect to pay another $2 or so a month to their phone company to forward calls to AOL's message center.

How it works online: Home voice messages also show up as e-mails. Users click to hear the actual voice mail. The message can be stored in files, such as "calls from Mom," and forwarded to others.

On the phone, e-mails appear in the home voice mail queue and are read by a computerized voice. Customers can even send reply e-mails using spoken commands."

David Coursey at ZDNET also weighs in with more details.

I wonder if there is a web-interface to this to allow you archive your messages (kind of sounds like it above) and play them while surfing?

My interest is in offering blog-reader / radio-show-listeners the ability to respond to something on the blog or show with a voice message. I need to be able to take these responses and easily post them on the site for streaming and for playing on the Live show. I've not been able to find a service that does that for a reasonable price. My recent foray into AudBlog seems to be more for my own mobile audio reporting needs as opposed to something I can release to the general TNJT public.

This is just one component in my quest of a totally independent and mobile reporting architecture. Now I just need some clients that need a totally independent and mobile reporter?

I need something a little more flexible that allows me to send a bulletin out right away, mostly to listeners of the live show, to remind them about the show. That's really what I need, reminders for people that the show is going down. Add that to the list.
