I finally got around to looking at trackback.  Phil and Paul are right... from the perspective of the post being pinged, a trackback is simply a comment from another source (modulo naming differences, e.g., what I call "comment", tb calls "excerpt", etc.).

So by accepting either name, and adding a wodge of TrackBack mumbo-jumbo to each comment page, and it looks like I'm done!  (Question: should I have added it to each entry in my index.html page?  Seems like a lot of overhead to me).

Note: it looks like the norm is to ping an entry using HTTP GET.  While I support this, I've also made sure that I support the more RESTful HTTP POST equivalent.

Can somebody with trackback enabled client try pinging this entry?
