I'm posting a pile of stuff at my manila site today about how I use Radio. I'll point to it as soon as edithispage comes back on line. They must be having some server problems because weblog is also down.
It's back up. Here's the link.

digitalMASS: Antipiracy bill a high-tech threat. Millions of people already steal their products with digital assistance, and the problem is getting worse. But the proposed alternative would turn our personal computers, and all our other personal technologies, into digital busybodies that probably would forbid even legal copying. [Tomalak's Realm]

ADC Extension for Apple LCD Displays: "
ADC Extension by Dr. Bott offers an extra 3 meter (10 ft.), extending the range of the display to a total of about 4.5 meters (15 ft.). A passive extension cable cannot go further than that as both the digital video signals and the USB signals that are also carried in the ADC cable will not permit so.
" Might this be enough to make it from the machine room to the monitor in my studio?

Many intranets fail to live up to their potential because they don't have the content that is supposed to help people perform their work, and users often can't find what they're looking for even if it's on the sites, says Bobbie Merilees, a Vancouver-based consultant who advises companies on intranets. Well I'm all pleased with myself. I've come up with a workaround for the bug I found. The reason I started poking around with this script is that I wanted all of the templates to open up in Radio. I much prefer working with an outliner for my editing chores. In fact I wish I could do all of my posting within the outliner. But I digress.
I should let you know that I am but a lowly hacker who barely knows what he's doing. It works here folks but if anything breaks, well, you broke it.
The first 'gotcha' with my workaround is that it only works if you want to open all your templates in Radio. Here's how you make that happen. Jump to (command-j) user.radio.prefs.editors. There are three entries here. Set each of them to the path to your installation of Radio. In my case that's 'X:Users:xxxx:Applications:Radio UserLand:Radio UserLand[dot accent]' (well, not really)
Now tweak the verb which is causing the problem. Jump to system.verbs.builtins.radio.menuCommands.openTemplateFile. Select the entry called 'openTemplateFile'. We'll back it up before we mess with it. Command-c to copy the script to the clipboard. Rename the original to something like 'openTemplateFileORIG'. If you're still in selection mode from having renamed the verb, hit the enter key to return to selection mode. Now command-v to paste in another copy of the verb. This is the copy we'll open and modify. If something goes wrong, just remove the 'ORIG' from your back up and you are back in business.
With the 'openTemplateFile' verb selected, hit command-enter to open it up. Find the line 'launch.appWithDocument (adreditor^, f)' and comment it out (command-). Hit return. Type 'fileMenu.open (f)'. Hit the 'Compile' button at the top of the window.
Now try out your changes. Go to menu Radio->Templates-> and choose anything in there (other than 'Restore defaults'). The template you selected should open in Radio. Yay! I'm a happy guy.
I've also made a backup copy of the script in my workspace in case it gets tromped on by an update.
If someone has a better solution or thinks I'm being dangerous here I'd be grateful if they'd let me know.
PS There is a line in the script below an if statement, along with a comment as follows:
fileMenu.open (f) //launch.appWithDocument doesn't work for Radio running on MacOS X under Classic, but filemenu.open does work.
This was the final hint I needed for the solution. I think it's safe to say that 'launch.appWithDocument doesn't work for Radio running on MacOS X' in this situation, period. I'm not running Radio in Classic.
