It's time to tackle the next great Canadian cause 'Repeatedly neutered in national affairs, groups and regions become naturally disaffected. Their leaders in Parliament are reduced to overwrought cartoon characters, feigning outrage in every Question Period, hoping for 12 seconds on the TV news. No wonder so many people whose political preferences leave them so chronically embarrassed turn away from this desiccated scene.'

Sydney Opera House architect reunited with his creation. Gramophone Mar 26 2002 0:31AM ET [Moreover - Arts and culture news]
I didn't know this but apparently during construction the concert hall and opera house spaces were reversed from their original plan.

Maybe he should have called them terrorists. (sarcasm)

Quicken.com: Canada Agency Imposes Duties of Up to 71% on U.S. Tomatoes: "The Canadian industry group has alleged that U.S. tomatoes are being sold in Canada at less than fair value, causing harm to Canadian production in the form of reduced income and lost incentive to expand and upgrade production facilities."
I'll see your softwood lumber and raise you one tomato!

Fascinating! We Atlantic Canucks are nearly as 'Canada second' as Quebecers. I believe it. We know where we're from!

Improving His Average to One in 16. When Randy Newman finally won an Academy Award for best original song on Sunday night, putting 16 nominations and 15 losses behind him, he couldn't resist a little mockery. By Jon Pareles. [New York Times: Arts]
Terry Crawford turned me on to Randy Newman back in the '70's. Wickedly wonderful songs. I'm glad for his success in movies and am a total sucker for the maudlin tunes as well. But here's my fav quote from this article.

'Cured of overestimating the mass audience, Mr. Newman gets his Oscar for a song that's tuneful, modestly witty and slight. With any luck, he's hoarding something far more disturbing that won't win him any awards.'

Top Mac OS X Utilities: Restoring Mac OS 9 Functionality (25-Mar-2002; 8.6K) [TidBITS]
I'm looking forward to more instalments in this series. But the tools mentioned in this one aren't for me. My thinking is that it's time to look ahead with the OS, not back.
