News: Mortgage rates drop again -- Comment: With two pieces of property for sale right now, low rates are certainly good news for us...we are more likely to find potential buyers, and we're more likely to be able to afford a new house. I've seen some casual evidence, just from driving around Holt, that the low rates are bringing more sellers onto the market, which of course creates competition for our sale. But all in all, things are much better than the early '80s when mortgage rates hit 18-19% and basically killed the real estate market. News: We pull off a successful surprise 50th birthday party for my wife. Comment: I feel really good about how things went -- 1) We completely fooled Jennifer (heh heh heh) 2) Everyone seemed to have a great time 3) The cool, dry weather was perfect for a party 4) Many people looked at the display of Jennifer's baby-to-teen-to-adult pictures and remarked how young she still looks. Gee, I hope to hear that when I turn 50 next year. News: Famous Hollywood screenwriter bargains with God: Comment: Joe Eszterhas says he told God that if he is spared from dying of throat cancer, he will stop glamorizing cigarette use in his movies. So, if God does not spare him, Eszterhas will do...what? Nothing, I guess, 'cuz he will be dead. Maybe he should just stop glamorizing cigarette use because it's the right thing to do.
