News: CBS to revive Beverly Hillbillies as a reality show --
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A9235-2002Aug28.html
Comment: If this wasn't in the Washington Post, I'd suspect someone was
pulling a prank. I guess the concept is that CBS will find a real
"hillbilly"-type family from somewhere in the rural South and plunk them
into a Beverly Hills, CA, lifestyle.
I'm skeptical this is going to work. It was a funny TV show back in the
'60s, when you could really believe there were still remote, hill-dwelling
rubes who thought a swimming pool was a "cement pond."
But in 2002, with Internet and satellite TV available everywhere? Will
viewers really believe that the family CBS selects will be as socially and
culturally out-of-touch as the original Beverly Hillbillies? I doubt it.
Talk about being out-of-touch. Only some TV programmers stuck in Hollywood
could dream this up and think it's creative.
News: What's your name mean?-- http://www.behindthename.com/
Comment: This is kind of fun. For example, Michael comes from the Hebrew
name Mikha'el meaning "who is like God?". I interpret that to mean "god-like
king of the bloggers."

Comment: I like the tiny cell phone (http://www.dynamism.com/t66/index.shtml
). If you've got lots of money,
there's plenty of cool stuff here to buy.
