News: Idiot "radio shock jocks" get fired for sex-in-church stunt: http://makeashorterlink.com/?J2E412891

Comment: This is like something out of a Simpson's episode. What were these nitwits thinking? They crossed the line of good taste by broadcasting a radio stunt in which a couple purportedly had sex in St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City.

News: Here's a cool website that makes creative use of Flash Player 6 technology -- http://www.typorganism.com/

Comment: I enjoy moving the mouse around and making things happen. But I have my limits...two, three hours or so and then I'm bored.

News: Missed the asteroid Saturday night? Luckily, it missed us, too. But you can see the video here -- http://www.noao.edu/outreach/press/pr02/pr0207.html

Comment: Astronomy students from Yale took still images of the asteroid that passed close to the Earth and combined them into a digital movie. I think it's eerie to see the little white dot of a rock go zooming across the field of stars.

Speaking of things from space that might smack the Earth, I just finished a book that I really enjoyed: Wheelers by Ian Stewart and Jack Cohen. Part of the plot involves critters living in the atmosphere of Jupiter who divert a comet to hit our planet. It's about 20 miles in diameter...not like the "Texas-sized" comet that Bruce Willis destroys in that movie...but the aliens accelerate it to half-a-million miles and an hour, so it packs a lot of energy. Humanity expects the impact to pretty much sterilize the planet.
