News - A computer keyboard with no keys:

Comment - This may be a good option for people with carpal tunnel, but otherwise, looks like a steep learning curve to figure out how to operate it.

News - The final Lord of the Rings movie will have a new character called Jar-Jarormir: http://www.bbspot.com/News/2003/01/jaromir.html

Comment - I sure hope this is a joke: "A recently leaked trailer for The Return of the King has Tolkien fans outraged over the apparent addition of a new character - Jar-Jaromir. The scene depicted in the trailer shows Jar-Jaromir shouting, "Gondora gonna fallsa"; he then trips over a corpse and knocks down a couple of Uruk-hai."

Be sure and check out the photo of "Jar-Jaromir".

News - Polls show falling support for U.S. attack on Iraq, but so what?: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A24783-2003Jan21.html

Comment - Here's a good quote from the article: "It is the outcome of the war itself that will determine public support, not hypothetical polls in advance," said Richard C. Holbrooke, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations during the Clinton administration, who has supported the administration on its looming military confrontation with Iraq. "That is what leadership is all about. Roosevelt understood that in 1940-41; Bush senior understood it in the first Persian Gulf War; Clinton understood it over Bosnia and Kosovo," he said.

The U.S. must lead, not follow. If France and Germany are opposed, who cares? It appears that France and Germany has substantial conflicts of interest - they have signed sweetheart deals with Saddam to provide technology and develop Iraqi oil reserves.

International cooperation should not be an end in itself. It we get international support to topple Saddam, great! But the goal is to get rid of Saddam, not just please the Europeans. I'm sure President Bush is fully prepared to have us go-it-alone. Heck, our troops (and the Brits) will be doing all the fighting anyway.
