From the National Weather service via the New York Times:

The New York Times:
SHUTTLE BREAKS UP Columbia, With Six Americans and Israeli, Disintegrates as It Descends Over Texas
What can one say? This is so tragic. Peter came upstairs this morning and said "There's been another tragedy." At this point, one just cringes when one hears those words.
Everything that I could say has already been said countless times in the past year and a half.
I feel so badly for the astronauts' families, Israel, India, and NASA. This is such an emblematic tragedy.
