This afternoon I saw The Pianist. An intensely powerful movie - profoundly sad and haunting. To this day it is beyond my comprehension that one group of people can totally humiliate, enslave, and ultimately eliminate another group. It's all about dehumanization and state sanctioned organized mob action.
I know this sounds trite, but the Holocaust is why I don't do The Wave at sporting events. It's too close to mob behavior.
The Pianist gets my Oscar vote for best movie of the year. Roman Polanski is a master.
