I'll tell you what is a bit of a thrill: Taking Impramine after a fair amount of wine. Whoa...Kind of trippy. I think I'll float (or careen) my way up to bed now....

Last night, myself, Peter, Cheri, and Cheri's daughter, Katie, saw the Pilobolus Dance Theatre with the Saint Lawrence String Quartet. It is always a special treat to have a modern dance company accompanied by live music. The SLSQ is quite good - although, after having seen the Emerson String Quartet three weeks ago, I have to say it is so clear that the Emerson is the best string quartet in the world. The difference was startling.

Anyhoo, overall last night's performance was good but not fabulous.

Except, for the second piece: Symbiosis. A stunning intertwined duet of movement, strength, equality, and complemented differences, that with Paul Taylor's Eventide, are the two richest and most mature depictions I've ever seen of the complex relationship between men and women.

Wine of the Night: A Slat Rat and Ski Boy fav: 1998 Dominus Napanook. A truly excellent smooth blend of Cabernet Sauvingon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. An American Meritage for sure. A fabulous rich nose, smooth taste with a great blend of fruit and a tease of spice. A total great wine.

Today, weatherwise - and sorry to be crude - is SHIT. I don't think I've ever seen a worse February day in Anchorage. Most of the snow is gone. What is left is dirty ice pockmarked with dog doo. It is grey grey grey - sort of a North Sea grey. Get the picture?

When Peter and I walked out of Snow City Cafe after breakfast, I commented that the only thing that would be worse is if it were pouring rain.

Guess what? Within twenty minutes it started to rain. Right now it is pouring buckets with a tad bit of sleet mixed in. It is definitely shit.
