Last night was the bi-annual GCI Christmas Party. Bi-annual you ask?
Throwing a party for a company our size is a big undertaking both in terms of money and time. If we did a party every year, we'd completely burn ourselves out. In the off-party years, we all get an extra day off. So, it's a great mix.
So, the big question is of course, what did I wear? I mean, it's the same everywhere - the Office Christmas party is where we women trot out our latest holiday duds. But, I was going to wear what I'd worn for the past two parties - a big no-no. But I hadn't had the shopping bug at all. It is such a hassle - especially when you absolutely must find something. So, I was secure in my decision.
Which of course meant, that when the Ski Boy suggested yesterday morning (the day of the party) that we just cruise through Nordstroms to see if they might perhaps have a spiffy outfit, I was of an open mind. No pressure. I knew what I was going to wear.
And of course, I found the most fabulous outfit. It just like when you're in the market for a boyfriend. If you feel pressured and desperately want to meet a good guy, you are gonna come up empty. But as soon as you give up and go on your merry way, the Ski Boy lands on your doorstep!
Anyhoo, my outfit. A gorgeous fitted red satin jacket that's way open across the shoulders and down through the chest (a discreet black camisole was required). The whole look was sort of updated Ava Gardner. And amazingly, I could wear that jacket. My clavicles don't look too bad!
We got a wonderfully fun black scalloped bottomed flared skirt that hit just above the knees. All in all, the total outfit was almost glamarous. Which is pretty amazing considering that we're talking about the Carhart-Sorel wearing Slat Rat.
And no - we don't have pictures. I couldn't convince the Ski Boy to take the camera with us so we could get someone to snap a pic. Peter was very very handsome and we would have had quite the portrait. But there will be additional opportunities this winter.
