Dave is confused about the need for Yet Another MVC Framework. Now as his nominated WebWork evangelist (it always amazes what can turn up old mailing list posts!) I should probably explain a few things.
Time for another essay - Why I like WebWork
(two essays today - my god I am turning into a veritable blog professional)

Boiled Frogs Addendum: Charles is wise. He has another name (one that I actually do remember from gen-ed philosophy) - the Slippery Slope Fallacy:
If you pull a single hair out of somebody's beard, it's not going to make any difference at all. Therefore, since any individual hair-pulling isn't making a difference, you can keep doing it forever.

A new blog for the list of Java and J2EE Weblogs - ZOpen-X - Robert Barksdale's blog covers OSX, with a good smattering of Java and J2EE development on OSX. Three of my favourite topics!

OMG - it seems the Salami Effect actully has a real name. Charles says that in programming terms it's called the Boiled Frog effect or Broken Windows. It's always scary to think of something and realise someone else has already had those thoughts.

It seems (from WSJ.com) that the red Swingline stapler in Office Space has become somewhat of a desirable office accessory. The irony? Until April Swingline didn't even make a red stapler!
Carol Chapman, a 40-year-old Java software developer in Chicago, has watched "Office Space" several times, as have her work colleagues. She owns a red Swingline. "People try to take it away from me, too," she says. She has invested in a lock to protect it.

Another weird rant of mine - The Salami Effect.
Why is it called the Salami Effect? Well - the phenomenon is the same as cutting a stick of salami. Each slice seems so negligible to itself, cutting off another slice doesn't 'seem' to affect the length of the stick. However cut off 50 slices and you suddenly realise you don't have any salami left.

I read through the Tapestry 2.1 tutorial on its website. It looks interesting, but I still don't see what all the raving on The ServerSide is about - it seems like YAMF! (Yet Another MVC Framework) Sure I can replace all my JSP files and a single XML file with lots of HTML files and lots of XML files - but why? What do I gain?!
