"A person should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful that God has implanted in the human soul." - Goethe
All we were going strong last night this time, the mots were flying & the frozen daiquiris were downing, supine on the floor lay Lise listening to Schubert grievous & sublime, my head was frantic with a following rime: it was a good evening, an evening to please, I kissed her in the kitchen-ecstasies- among so much good we tamped down the crime. The weather's changing. This morning was cold, as I made for the grove, without expectation, some hundred Sonnets in my pocket, old, to read her if she came. Presently the sun yellowed the pines & my lady came not in blue jeans & a sweater. I sat down & wrote. ---John Berryman

"Some of these bootleggers, they make pretty good stuff" --Bob Dylan
"The 40 or so albums that make up the official Dylan canon are all but lost in a sea of bootlegs so vast that collectors have organized them into subcategories, any one of which contains enough entries for months, even years of study." Great rundown of the underground recordings in this article at Salon.
One reader describes this weblog as "crack for voyeurs". Instant Message...Married with a girlfriend - chronicles one man's experiences with personals and what happened when things got too personal.
Today's spam was just so unbelievable I had to share. Typically, Yahoo's spam filter does a good job of keeping this kind of thing out of my inbox, but this one managed to slither in. Amazing.
My name is Haja I am a 23 years old and a British citizen who was taken to Brunei by my father at the young age of 12. He deceived me that I was going there on vacation and later married me off to a wealthy Prince in Brunei who is 30 years older than me.
I was thus forced into marriage and when I objected I was beaten and raped by this Prince. I was locked up in a house for two years after which I submitted and decided to accept my faith, knowing that was the only way out.
After I got my freedom back I have been allowed by my husband to have access to his businesses. Over the years I am been able to acquire some money $16,000,000.00 ( Sixteen million dollars), which I diverted into a private finance house in Darussalam without his knowledge.
Right now I have mapped out a plan of escape out of Brunei, first of all I want to move the fund out of the Brunei. This is where I need your assistance, I will move the fund out of Brunei on your name through a Cargo courier company to Europe to avoid been detected by my husband. After which you will help me secure the fund before I get out of Brunei.
If you know you are capable of handling such a huge amount of money respond to me and I will compensate you by giving you 10% of the total fund. Note also that you must keep this transaction secret as my life is at stake if my husband or any of his relatives hear of this transaction they will stone me to death or hang me. Respond to me immediately so we can proceed. w5000@email.com or r7000@email.com
Best regards,
Haja
I just had to do a little Googling. Here's the official government website of Brunei Darrusalam that popped up when I entered "Darrusalam". Next, I entered "Darrusalam spam" and the first site listed is this one. I hate spam.

Woke up this morning feeling worse, and because I'm a wee bit overdramatic and feeling terribly sorry for myself, I started crying in bed. Wheezing and weeping, sobbing between coughs, Scott held me silently while the kittens cried outside the bedroom door for other, more obvious, reasons. Two cups of coffee and a hot shower later, I headed for work. It was a very cold morning here, and a heavy blanket of frost covered the car windows. Scott had been out to warm up the car, and I used my library card to scrape off what the defroster hadn't yet melted. As I tackled the frost, I was reminded of overdue books and fine-free Tuesdays.
